Birds are a ton of work but anything worth while, takes some work. They can extremely loving believe it or not. Tomorrow, I will talk more about Cockatoos and how affectionate they can be. The most important thing I think with birds is diet. They require fresh fruits and veggies, along with seed and pellets. As far as my proverb for the day, it was more a saying. I personally, have made many mistakes in my life, stupid, silly decisions growing up. I learned from the mistakes and experiences and grew. What I use is Heinz ketchup(a whole big bottle), brown sugar, white sugar, lemon juice, dried ground chipolte peppers, honey and apple cider vinegar. The amounts I use I can't tell you because I just add it all together. I go by taste. I keep tasting it to make sure it is sweet enough and has a bite. Bob likes it smokey so we use the chopolte peppers but you can use regular hot peppers or tabasco sauce. I bring it to a boil, stirring constantly, then simmer until it gets thick.
