Feral Felines
PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATES
Since we have lived on the farm we have always had a few cats. Over the past few years it seems the farm has become a dumping place for people to literally dump their no longer wanted felines. Some have been friendly and some very feral. Being responsible we started spaying, neutering and releasing the feral cats back onto the farm and continue to feed them all.
At the beginning of May one of the feral queens made the mistake of giving birth in a dog biscuit box on our porch. We quickly moved the box into a fenced area so we could contain the newborns until they were old enough to take from mom. Bob and I handled the babies from day one. Mom would go to potty or feed and it was our time to instill love and tenderness and allow the kittens to become familiar with with the human touch. Their eyes opened and I knew it was a matter of days before mom would start to move them. We decided it was time to take them from mom, so we did. They have been in my home since 4 weeks and as you know they are loving kittens, socialized with people and longing for a home of their own.
Update: Sporty and Cheetah have stayed here with Bob and I and Tigger is living with the Hawk Family.

If anyone is interested in them, please feel free to contact us. We are looking for indoor homes only, where the love we started will continue.
June 24, 2008 ~ Update
It has been awhile since I’ve updated this page. I feel a sense of accomplishment at this point. In the slide shows above all but 2 felines(both the calico girls) have been either spayed or neutered. It is amazing how many we have trapped, spayed, neutered, vaccinated and released again. The numbers are outstanding. We know about the calico girls, what we don’t know is how many kittens are out there. We have seen a few which we will trap as soon as we can. I can only hope that with the current felines altered the population will go way down. I am hoping that we can end the growth of this colony… finally.
UPDATE (7/1/08) please see our HOME page for the lastest update on the kittens
UPDATE (8 10 2009)
These are some pictures I snapped this morning of some of the ferals that were hanging around eating breakfast or coming to eat. Our numbers seemed to have dropped but I am sure come winter they will be up once again.
(LATEST UPDATE on 8/14/2009)
It appears that we have some new additions to the feral cat colony. I will be calling to make arrangements next week for TNR. Below is a slideshow from feeding time at 5 PM. You can see that most are regular residents but there are two new ones I must TRN. Stand by for further details on these new felines.
