Monday April 2, 2012

Happy April and good Monday to all. I am so glad to see sunshine today. It was nasty weather all weekend.
This morning Darby and Brady arrived bright and early. Darby had been with us previously but since then she has a new brother, so to speak Brady. He’s adorable, but he is in that puppy biting stage. He does however know how to sit and he listens well. I think that puppy play nipping won’t last long. Braddock and Casey also got to go out today, each by themselves.
Braddock was so happy, he played and his tail never stops wagging. Casey spotted a squirrel and was so intent watching it. I had to actually go over to her and throw the ball to have her refocus on me. I wanted her to run and get out some of her energy that was stored from the weekend. She was a good girl.
New this spring Canine Massage by certified canine and equine massage therapists Christina Maurer. She is working with us on evenings and weekends. We can arrange to also have your dog massaged while he or she is staying here at the kennel. See the difference a massage can make, in your canine.
That’s it from here, be well everyone.

(This photo was taken the other day)
Wow, March flew by. I believe the old saying is March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb…. I think someone switched things around. It was a cold, damp rainy day today.
With morning chores done and the dogs content Bob and I did a few errands, after all we need to eat too. Once home the dogs had their cookie time, frozen cookies(dog cookies of course) in peanut butter. Not fun to make, it’s messy but once done the dogs wasted no time, eating them. I also filled their natural bones and antler ends with PB and froze them. It gives them something to do on long days like today.
That’s it from here, let’s hope tomorrow’s weather is nicer.

Evening all, wow where did the day go? It seems that I was busy all day. The sun finally came out and it did warm up to the point I only had my Carhardt vest on and I was warm enough.
The dogs all were out for a good, long time today. Braddock and Casey decided today to have a little scrap over the big tennis ball. They are both fine, I was the winner in the end. There are several tennis balls out there but they both wanted the same one, go figure. Madison, as always is a doll. I tried to brush her a little today since she was leaving little fuzz balls all over the aisle way. She enjoyed that.
Bob took a vacation day so we got so much accomplished. After the dogs were all out, he seeded the play yard once again. We still have a few bare patches. Zane’s pasture was also disc- ed and seeded. I have photos of him throwing a fit because a big tractor was in his pasture. He was showing off, at least the Arabian side of him was.
It’s time to think about something for dinner, have a great night all.

Good afternoon… brrrrr! Can you say cold again? Wow, the weather certainly took a turn backwards, it’s cold outside. The wind doesn’t help matters either.
I had all the dogs outside. Madison hates the wind, she does her business rather quickly and heads straight to the back door of the kennel. If I have the ex-pen across the bottom of the outside isle, she tries to push it aside so she can get to the door. On the other hand Casey and Braddock ran and ran, playing like they do everyday. Neither one cared about the wind or the fact it was cold.
Have a great afternoon and evening, more tomorrow.

Good afternoon all. It is very cloudy outside and it feels like rain. I am glad all the dogs had a good run today. Pouring now, spoke too soon.
I was saddened to find out one of our smaller guest had passed away overnight. Linus, the Guinea Pig was so sweet. I send my heartfelt condolences out to his owner Rebecca. RIP Linus. There is a photo of Linus on our Memorial Page.
As you can see Braddock and Casey had a blast playing. I have so many photos to upload into a slideshow, just some candid pics of the two of them really playing hard. It’s funny to see Braddock out there, he kind of hops like a kangaroo at times. Casey teased him today because she had the big tennis ball. Madison, was also out but she is a true lady. She goes out, does her business and then sits like a queen. I think she takes in so much with her soulful eyes. She is a dream to capture in pictures. Her eyes tell everything.
It’s cookie time… hopefully more photos later.

With temps in the 70’s last week it was a surprise to wake up to 24 degrees. I dug out my winter coat and gloves once again. I could believe it got that cold overnight. Bob & I hope the fruit trees didn’t sustain much frost damage. I took a walk later this afternoon and snapped a few photos using the view window which totally drains the battery. I was told not to use it but I wanted to at least show Bob what the blossoms looked like.
Braddock and Casey were out earlier this afternoon running, running, running. At one point they each stood and looked at each other and it started all over again. Madison, was happy there was no wind, she hated that yesterday.
I am feeling a little better today, my voice is slowly coming back. I am now off to feed the animals dinner, dogs first, then the cats, horse, birds…. Chow for now.

Evening everyone, I hope you had a good weekend. We had crazy weather, first rain and cold and then today we started the day with damp, cool weather and ended with some warmth and sunshine. I am still sick and not feeling great. I just want this cold to pass and I’d get my voice back. Tomorrow, the doctor will get another call.
Thanks to Bob for all his help today. This morning he helped me get the dogs fed, runs cleaned and all the dogs out to play. I’m not sure without him, all of it would have gotten done in the same time frame. I was grateful for the help today.
I am off to make yet another cup of hot tea. Enjoy the night.

Updates 1:59 PM
It’s raining, no surprise. All the dogs arrived and have settled in. We had cookie time about and hour again. Later today(after dinner even), we’ll have belly and ear rubbing sessions since it is raining. I’ll try tomorrow to get some pics posted.
Hey it’s Saturday..and the weather so far, isn’t too bad. I am waiting for Spanky to arrive. I’ve had Madison out twice now and I am pleased to say we are both feeling much better today.
Braddock and Casey are due to arrive shortly. I’ll end here and wish everyone a great day…even if you are going to need and umbrella!
Friday March 23, 2012
Morning and TGIF everyone. I am still not feeling good but enough talk of that. I was up and out early. There was very heavy fog all around. I think I woke the dogs again. Madison and I headed out back so she could potty and I snapped the above pic. I think she looks so beautiful.
The sun is starting to come out finally. The grass in the play yard was wet. The dogs need to rest after eating, that will give it a chance to dry out. My plans are to get as many dogs out as I can throughout the day.
I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

This is going to be a quick post. I am still not feeling great. Today, I have to admit I didn’t do a whole lot, call it lack of energy… it is, what it is.
I had Madison out a few times and boy oh boy she loves the back door of the kennel. I think I know why too. We had some visitors and I think Madison thought she was going home. I spent time with her inside, just to comfort her. Hopefully tomorrow, we’ll both feel better and enjoy ourselves.
Off to brew some hot tea, be well everyone.
